Customize your Elgg site by replacing the default Elgg Topbar menu with Jquery sliding dropdown menu. Elgg default navigation system looks the same on 90% of Elgg powered sites, especially the elggtopbar so we wanted to change that.

Our first custom topbar menu was designed when we released BlackPod Free Elgg Theme and since then we customized several menus on our client’s websites. The latest one included new animated Jquery CSS sliding menu that made Elgg site really stand out (look at the photos below).

In this menu customization we also renamed topbar “Tools” to “Goodies” (per clients request) and created dropdown called “My Settings” that include Profile Settings, Account Settings and Log Out links (second photo below).  Once again all this is controlled inside the theme and not in the Elgg core to make future upgrades easier.
